Thai golfer Ariya Jutanugarn’s win at the US Women’s Open on Sunday has propelled her into second spot in the world rankings.
The 22-year-old rose three places to now sit behind only the top ranked player, Inbee Park of South Korea, in the latest rankings for the week commencing 4 June 2018.
Ariya has won nine LPGA titles including two majors, and was briefly the top ranked player this time last year. Her sister Moriya Jutanugarn is currently in ninth spot in the world rankings.
Critics say Ariya, at her best, evokes comparison with a young Tiger Woods.
In addition to their tournament play, Ariya and Moriya also help the Tourism Authority of Thailand to spread the word about Thailand as a world-class golfing destination, in their official role as Thailand Golf Ambassadors.
