Thailand received 34.4 million international visitors in the January-November 2018 period, posting a growth of 7.53 percent over the same 2017 period and placing it in good stead to meet the 36 million arrivals target for the year.
Seven countries generated over 1 million arrivals each – China, Malaysia, South Korea, Laos, Japan, India and Russia – and three more countries were set to follow suit before the year end having already surpassed the 900,000 mark – the US, Vietnam and Singapore.
The Ministry of Tourism and Sports announced that arrivals to Thailand from January to November 2018 totalled 34,431,489.
All source regions showed growth except for the Middle East and Oceania. Visitors from East Asia totalled 23.62 million (up 9.21 percent), from Europe 5.91 million (up 4.03 percent), from the Americas 1.41 million (up 3.7 percent), from South Asia 1.77 million (up 11.32 percent) and from Africa 174,565 (up 9.63 percent).
The Tourism Authority of Thailand’s target for 2018 is 36 million arrivals and THB 1.97 trillion (USD 60.9 billion) in tourism revenue, increases on 2017 of 3.85 percent and eight percent respectively over 2017.
